Susan Benton’s visual art works began in 1998 after a car accident that almost ended her life in Alabama. As a former teacher, Susan’s self-taught art became very natural. Susan began painting on the orthopedic floor of the hospital, and her work continued after moving to South Walton, including selling work through an Orthopedic Office in Sandestin, FL as well as two art galleries in Seaside, FL. She has spearheaded both the Butler Elementary art auction (1999-2005), and Via Colori Street Art (2005-2008) too. Susan is also a food and travel writer, and has her own award-winning blog, 30AEats.com, where she promotes local artists, chefs, restaurants and purveyors and shares her stories and recipes. As a longtime member of the South Walton community, Susan believes in the mission of the Cultural Arts Alliance and fellow artists in South Walton. As a patron of the arts in the community for a couple of decades, Susan is excited to be expanding her work and is passionate about the overall goals of the Cultural Arts Alliance.
